Extal Worldbuilder 0.9a
Final Features
After a year and a half, I’m almost finished. I have added in the final feature I’ve wanted for a long time to complete this massive world builder suite. The program WORKS! I am ecstatic and ready to pour all my world building ideas into the program and watch it turn into a small brain of information for my books.
As you can see from above, the last features were upgrading the map system. I wanted the ability to draw roads, borders, waterways, etc. You can also customize it. These are layered markers which can also be moved via points where you clicked to change road directions or border directions.
The Border section also has a transparency you can overlay the section with as well. you can see above the red-pink layer. This was a test I ran by designing a border. Click on the “highlight border region” and it will give a transparent color to your section. This also can be manipulated by the edit button.
The last and probably final feature I will put into this program is the “Terrain Region”. This was something I have always wanted but never found anywhere else. It probably is but is probably an expensive buy.
The “Terrain Region” is directly connected to the “Measuring Distance” tool. Once you have your map up and you go into the “Measure Options” to calculate your distance for walking and horse riding, now you can mark out terrain on your map as dense forest, sparse forest, hilly, rocky, etc. Much like the border creation tool, you do the same here by marking where the region will be a hard path to walk or ride.
There are preset numbers calculated based on the base calculations already set. When you measure over the terrain you have saved, the measuring tool will take into calculation that specific terrain to generate the answer for distance in minutes, days, and weeks.
If you have a different terrain or want to change the speed, you can do that as well.
For now, this is it. My World Builder is complete.
If someone notices problems within the program, glitches, etc. Comment in the Github “issues” forum.
As of right now, I have Linux and Windows builds in place and ready to download.
Are there going to be bugs? Probably. But hey, it’s FREE. And I’m only one guy with a life.
Happy World Building!
