Summary
Tims Caulder’s knowledge of the world only extended from what he knew growing up in a brothel and the women his master employed. A single act of bravery ushers him into a whole new world. As an adult, he will do anything for the man who showed him a life only dreamed of. The noble lords hate him, calling him the King’s pet. In secret, he is much more as events will place him directly in the path of a prophecy of old.
From her first sight of Tims, Princess Averin loved his heart and later for much more. This was a forbidden love she would never reveal to anyone, especially Tims. Being the only child of King Joshua, she is seen as weak and unfit to be the heir of Calmone’s throne. It is widely known that her death would cast the country into a bloody war for the crown.
On a dark, foreboding early morning, a lone figure looking more like a demon than man, approaches the capital city of Sarsda. His mission is simple. He has traveled the length of the known world to deliver a message to the King. Its contents could easily incite the White Council of wizards to dethrone a King.
On the borderlands between Calmone and the Free Territories where mercenaries thrive, a woman is broken, working in a seedy tavern catering to hardened men. She has but one question. Why were her parents murdered by those using magic? When a note of thanks is given to her with an emblem, her quest for answers begins that will lead her into a world hidden from the races of man.

Now, as another unicorn dies, the first law of the Ancients will be broken to discuss war on humans. Cast of Characters
Tims Caulder
Tims Caulder grew up in a brothel in a rather large village called Willow Town. His mother, a prostitute within the brothel, was murdered, leaving him alone within the care of Brad, the owner.
His heart is sincere and when ushered into the King’s service as his own personal squire, Tims knows the risk his King is taking, doing this. The nobles cannot stand that Tims, his heritage that of a prostitute, is so close to the King’s side. It makes him powerful enemies but in his heart, his loyalty is unwavering.
Knowing Princess Averin is thrust into a world of manipulative nobles who can see her death as an advantage, he knows what he must do.
Averin Fredrick
Princess Averin Fredrick is the only daughter of King Joshua and Queen Anna. She knows by simply listening to her best friend, Eseme, how they view her in court. More than this, she knows she walks a thin line between life and death. She lives a secret life as well, something no other person except her parents, know about. She can be rash at times, outspoken, and wear her heart on her sleeve. She loves people but in secret, one in particular that is a dangerous thing to voice out loud.
Ravage
Ravage is a mystery to people and that’s how he likes it. He never reveals too much and keeps to himself for the most part. Born centuries before, he has lost count of his age. He has watched kingdoms rise and fall, at times by his own hand in the service of his father, a man evil in every way that matters. His father sees himself as a god emperor. For himself, he’s walked away from that past life but cannot escape its memories for they’re everywhere. And most of all, the evidence is his looks, a parting gift from a father scorned. He is viewed now as a demon rather than man. Perhaps this is most suitable for even he cannot forgive himself of the evil done in his father’s name. Blood is on his hands that can never be erased.
Tari Alcorin
Tari Alcorin is a daughter to murdered parents. Living in Sauter City, she’s a waitress on the border of the Free Territories. Here, anything goes. There are no laws. She feels empty and the stares of the mercenaries makes her cringe. She wishes there was more to life than this miserable job but can’t figure out how to find it. Then one day, that all changes and she’s on a quest to discover who she really is. For why would anyone want to use magic to kill her parents? Things simply don’t add up. There must be more to her family name and she’s willing to do anything to discover the truth.

Stablehand - Tims' saving of the King last night ushers him out of the uncaring nature of Brad, the brothel's owner, into a world he has no notion of. King Joshua, for his bravery, places him in the royal stables under Master Richards. Fearing he's made a mistake from the jeers and laughter of others, he finds solace in one of the most unlikely people.

The first few years were the hardest on Tims. Knowing he was the butt of jokes, he was also a target for nobility for how Princess Averin befriended him and hung out with him and Daniel, his only friend other than her. One morning, riding out with the princess, she states she has a secret to share. And what a shock that was to him!
Secrets of Enali - Chapter 4
A New Life - Ushered into the Palace of Sarda, Tims is rushed from one chamber to the next in order to make himself presentable as he's about to be given a title not seen in over 20 years. From the angry looks of those in attendance, he knows his future is not going to be easy. But with Averin by his side, he knows he will do well as the King's personal squire. What he doesn't know is if he can deal with what the King has secretly made him.

The Labyrinth and Mercenaries - From squire to spy, Tims grows in his learning despite the constant sneers, being called "the King's pet." One thing he loves though is the freedom he has to explore. And on one occasion, he finds something unexpected. A labyrinth of halls not used in a hundred years. When on an exertion into the city with Daniel and Averin, they're beset by mercenaries and he must use his skills to protect them.

The Hidden Grove - After giving an account of what happened in the city to King Joshua, Tims finds he has nothing to do so sets out on exploring the labyrinth. This time, he goes into uncharted halls, descending into a past that may just lead to dangerous things. When emerging out of a tunnel, he knows he's in serious trouble. He's not in Sarsda or even Calmone. Somehow, magic took him someplace else, a hidden grove not anywhere close to home.
Secrets of Enali - Chapter 7
Tims falls asleep and dreams of wolves and eagles, living as them in the realm of Savale, a land of magic on Eden, a continent far to the east separated by the Volesin Sea. Later, he discovers healing properties of this grove before one fateful day, he has a visitor who calls him a paladin, fated by prophecy to one day fight what others cannot.

Chasing a Thief - On one of his daily exercises with Hawkeyes, Tims finds himself chasing a thief back into the Wastelane District of Sarsda where gangs abound.

The Ballroom and Hidden Library - As squire to King Joshua, Tims goes to a Merchant's Ball, his intentions to discover anything about Lord Conner after Hawkeyes informs him of strange tidings. Later, Princess Averin secretly makes her way through the lost labyrinths to a hidden library with her father, reading ancient forbidden books from her satchel.

Lord Conner's Visitor - Tims realizes he must find a means to listen in on Lord Conner’s talk with a visitor. A civil war seems to be closer than thought. Strange visions light his way to an impossible solution, discovering a plot so close to him, he fears he’s too late. Princess Averin is in mortal danger.
